Winter in June
If only this garden could talk. Imagine all of the stories it could share. Starting an orchard from scratch, caring for acres and acres of fruit trees as far as the eye could see. Packing apples for the wagons and preparing root stock for other orchards. The happy days of wonderful gatherings, the nights of fun and games, and the days when a community needed support and a warm heart to listen.
All of the kind folk who have helped weed the garden, mow the lawn, trim the trees and lovingly cared and supported Allwood Neighbourhood House. One such person in the Hurstbridge community was Rod Foster. He had heart of gold. Rod cared for the animals that needed a helping hand. Allwood has a new Memorial Corner Garden and you can find Rod’s memorial here. A quiet corner garden where the large old Camellias are planted with a hand crafted seat to ponder on. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew this kind soul to the animals.
The stages of winter deliver quiet scenery in the garden at present. The Claret Ash with its bare branches providing a wonderful sculpture towards the sky. The Mauve Flag Iris tucked away near the rose arbor is putting on a delightful show at present. Coming into flower, the Rosemary has promising buds to sooth the soul and the Grevillea beside the long walk is preparing flowers to keep the birds happy. So as the grey sky scuttles by, see you in two weeks for an update on Allwood Neighbourhood House garden.
May you be given what you need for today, and no more than you can carry.
Warm Regards
