Autumn - a season of change
The gardens of Allwood have seen many changes over the past years, with the come back of a true Australian cottage garden.
Recently Allwood Gardens underwent a landscape revamp with a beautiful new paved path from the house on to the gravel long walkway, an inspiring new paved circle at the Main Road entrance with brand new wider arbor, ready for the Banksia Rose to grace.
Autumn is a season of change. Summer not quite knowing when to call it quits, whilst Winter dips it’s toes in the water.The common Hawthorn have finished flowering only to put on a wonderful display of fruiting hips. They sprinkle hues of orange and red amongst the soft background of mature shrubs like Cotoneaster, the Mirror Plants and, of course, the established bones of the garden; the large trees.
We are now enjoying the Claret Ash in all her glory of dark red foliage. The larger Camelia Japonicas starting the budding process, full of promise for the late Winter/early Spring display.
The Jonquils have started poking their tips out through the mulch preparing for the sunny days of Spring – which seem a long way off for now.

You can also come along every Monday during the school term and volunteer – 9:30am – 11:30am with our gardener Jo. Meet friendly new faces and enjoy a nice cuppa afterwards.
